International Women's Day 2025, Whitby

On Thursday 6th March, a group of women came together in Whitby to celebrate International Women's Day.

And I'm proud to say - that I made it happen! Now - I m not going to be so arrogant to say that I did it on my own - because I certainly didn't, but I'm proud to say, that I played the key part.

So how did it happen......

A few weeks ago, I was attending a wonderful programme called Courageous Females delivered by the amazing Andrea Morrison - a three day programme funded by York and North York Growth Hub , where women who own their own businesses build their confidence, talk with peers, build resilience. Andrea is one of the most inspiring women I have ever met. She kindly invited us to join her in York to celebrate her 10th year in business - but also International Women's Day where she had a line up of inspirational women to be guest speakers.

It got me thinking - what was Whitby doing? I did a quick Google and couldn't find anything - so a seed was sown.

The following morning I was at another event and a couple of the Courageous Females were there too. I asked them to be guest speakers and to leave me to bring the rest together - and we did it!!!!!

We raised money and took donations of sanitary products for Wings of Hope on behalf of Hope Whitby.

I gathered together some wonderful women to share their stories - we learnt about menopause, home schooling, late diagnosis of ADHD,mental health and reducing fear and increasing confidence, life as a woman in the RNLI, angling, craft ale, bullying at work, the power of the voice and chakras. Thank you Mell, Kate, Lizzie, Rosa and Ally for making this such a success.

Thank you to you wonderful women who came along to support it - what a wonderful event - such a positive energy and a room full of love and laughter.....lets do it again next year!
